~ Vice Commander Richard L. Monts ~
United States Army 1987 - 1996


Mr. Monts joined the military at the age of 17 between his junior and senior year of High School. Mr. Monts had basic Training at Ft. Dix New Jersey, then returned to graduate high school. Upon graduation he went to AIT at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio TX. After graduation with as top Solder-Medic Mr. Monts was invited to return to Ft. Sam and Join the Cadre Staff, training new combat medics. After 5 training cycles Sgt. Monts Transferred to Ft. Drum New York attached as a Combat Medic to the 10th Mountain Division. Upon completion of his initial enlistment, he joined the national Guard, attached to H/HC, 102 Armored Battalion, 50th Armored Division. Mr. Monts has a Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and an Army Commendation Medal, among other awards.

Mr. Monts attended the Allentown Police Academy in 1992, attending the 49th Training class. Mr. Monts became a local municipal police officer in the Slate Belt area of Pennsylvania, then worked in Compliance, Training, and Investigations with U.S. Currency and Coin for 18 additional years. Mr. Monts retired in 2014, but in 2016 joined Cigars International in Hamburg PA, running the largest cigar store and bar. After 8 years, Mr. Monts transferred to run the two Cigars International stores in Bethlehem, PA where is still currently employed.

Mr. Monts enjoys a fine cigar, a good whiskey, and singing in multiple groups and venues for years, as well as making YouTube Videos. Mr. Monts is your Post 17 webmaster, and a content creator for the Post Facebook.
